We've been getting a lot of questions lately about the SLD hunt. Right now this is what we have for you: If you've been invited to the SL Discovery group as a SLD Hunt Vendor, then your store has been checked and approved and you're officially in the hunt. It takes longer for us to update you in our global list and have you added to the website, so if you're in the group, but not on the website, please be patient - we're working on it. If you've applied, but have not been invited to the group yet, please be patient - we check every store and when your store is checked and approved you'll be added. If you're not approved you'll also be informed - so either way you'll hear from us :) When applying, please name your notecard SL Discovery (and then something - preferrabily your store name) - I dunno about you, but I have like 35K items in my inventory, I receive about 10 applications a day and I crash about 4 times - so checking my "most recent items" doesn't help me much. If I can't find your application by looking for "SL Discovery" then it will take me longer to process your application. I believe that Jenneh Thursday has the same type of issues. Currently our only "Hunt Aid" is a sign, available in the past notices. Please feel free to place one in your shop. When something else is available, we'll let you know. We know our group is quiet right now. We're still processing applications. Applications are open until April 15 - we are not capping our stores. We have over 100 stores already entered and we're processing requests daily. If you haven't heard yet, our hunt item will be a magifying glass. I believe it is 3 prims - possibly 4. If you have issues with rezzing a 4 prim object, please do let us know and we'll try to get you a smaller primmed (but similar looking) object. Most likely it will be a 2D image of the actual hunt item. Therefore, 1 prim.
Hmm.. that's all of the questions I've been asked lately. If I've forgotten anything, please do feel free to send me a notecard and I'll do my best to get back to you. Again, it would be awesome if you could label it "SL Discovery hunt question" or some such. The most important thing I'd like to relay right now is please be patient - there are so many wonderful small stores that would like to be included in this hunt, and we don't want to leave anyone out - because of that, this hunt is rapidly becoming huge, and this takes time to process and organize. We've had some questions about "What we consider porn" for the SLD Hunt. Its obviously one of the points I forgot to cover in my last update. Porn is defined, for the purposes of this hunt as "images or objects depicting lewd or sexual acts". This includes bondage/BSDM type things and outright sex stuff. This does not include skins or furniture that is "xcite" compatible. This definition is applicable at the descretion of the hunt organizers. We're not prudes, but we don't walk around with our gear out either... If your sim/store is filled with pornography related products or items, then unfortunately, your shop will not be included in the SLD hunt.
As defined by Wikipedia (which is not the be-all-end-all but a decent source every now and again) Pornography or porn is the explicit depiction of sexual subject matter with the sole intention of sexually exciting the viewer. It is to a certain extent similar to erotica, which is the use of sexually arousing imagery...
... Pornography may use any of a variety of media-printed literature, photos, sculpture, drawing, painting, animation, sound recording, film, video, or video game.
When we say Porn or Pornography related... we mean this... We're attempting to include the kid SL community in our hunt. And by "kids" we don't mean actual RL kids... we mean the kids at heart on SL who choose to play child avatars.
Ultimately, the porn issue is at the descretion of the hunt organizers. |

We're gearing up for the hunt and we've had a number of applications already! Don't be afraid if you haven't heard from us yet, we're sifting through the applications as we speak!! We have had a number of questions that have reminded us that we need to set up some rules for you guys... really, we only have one rule: No Porn. We're trying to keep this hunt kid friendly so unfortunately stores that deal in pornography related products will not be accepted. With that said, we will be providing some optional tools for you to use during the hunt, including signs. The signs are not required, but helpful to let hunters know they TP'd to the right place. Our hunt item will be a 2-4 prim magnifying glass. As some stores are very small and prim usage is tight, please let us know if you have a problem with dropping a 2-4 prim object and we may be able to work around that with a 1 prim item if needed (although it won't be as nice :( ) If you have any questions at any time, please drop a notecard on Audra Siemens, Jenneh Thursday or Ikonn Giano. Its best if you name it something other than "New note" or we might lose it! Be sure to include your full SL name so that we can get back to you!

Discover Second Life... one little shop at a time! 
The SL Discovery Gridwide Hunt is happening May 1-31, 2009. Second Life has a lot of small shop designers struggling for a tiny glimmer of recognition. Come discover these great designers with us! This hunt is aimed at smaller high quality businesses all over the grid. If you are such a business and would like to participate, please fill out an application and return it to Jenneh Thursday, Audra Siemens or Ikonn Giano. We'll check your shop and invite you to the SL Discovery group. You can IM us for an application or more information, or you can touch a hunt information sign around the grid. There will be LOTS in the Newport Keys sim, so come on over! Bigger name? Don't worry... we'll include you too.
